The artisan spirit of the Great Beauty: a travelling experience based on custom-made atmospheres and details

A travelling experience based on custom-made atmospheres and details, just steps away from Hotel d’Inghilterra Roma – Starhotels Collezione. We highly recommend some of the city’s most beautiful artisan shops, where you will be able to find one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories, made exclusively for you. Let’s start with  Marini 1899, which has set a benchmark for bespoke shoemaking and creates wearable works of art (Via Francesco Crispi, 97).

Not far from there is a veritable institution in shoemaking, Beppino Rampin. Shoes of the highest craftsmanship, with almost invisible or no stitching at all, made by using wooden  lasts covered with leather and specifically designed to the proportions of each customer’s feet (Via Quintino Sella, 31). Just a few meters away is Sartoria Gallo, started by Luigi Gallo, the tailor of Manzù and  Ungaretti, in 1955, when gentlemen used to show off their elegance at the cafés on Via Veneto. His son Marco has now taken over the needle and thread, but the shop still boasts a long list of celebrities amongst its clientele  (Via Flavia, 45).

Located on Via di Ripetta, Sartoria Ripense takes care of every single processing stage, from selection of fabrics to finishing touches, down to the smallest details, to achieve a result of the highest quality and taste. Near the Pantheon, on Via di Sant'Eustachio, is Percossi Papi boutique, a well-known name in the jeweler’s craft. Beautiful and colorful pieces of jewelry, worn by famous actresses in real life and in movies, such as in Elizabeth: The Golden Age, Academy Award-winner for Best Costume Design. Last but not least, Le Sibille, a Renaissance workshop which creates wonderful costume jewelry by hand, one-of-kind pieces made by using the ancient Roman micro-mosaic technique reinterpreted in a modern version (Via Carlo Mirabello, 23).
